Denford Village Hall is situated on Front Street at the heart of the village.
The hall provides a great space to host local events and activities. The light and airy hall, which can host up to 60 people in a variety of seating formats, has a fully equipped kitchen and bar licence, as well as an impressive lighting and sound system. In the hall there is even a well frequented ‘book and jigsaw swap shop’!

The hall is suitable for many types of events including birthday and anniversary celebrations, christening parties, funeral wakes, quiz & race nights and more.

The hall was built in 1940 and presented to the village in June of that year by Mrs Clara Freeman in memory of her husband Thomas and their daughter Hilda. The Freemans were a notable family in the village owning a number of properties and builders by trade.

Trustees

The village hall is managed by a small group of volunteers who meet every month to ensure the smooth running of the facility as well as organising hall activities. New members and ideas are always welcome!

The current village hall committee consists of nine trustees. Here you can find out more about each of them by clicking their names below.

Q:  What’s your favourite local countryside walk?

A: My favourite local walk is down Meadow Lane and across meadows joining the old railway line to Ringstead. Here you can have refreshments at Willy Watts and then carry on around the Lakes in Ringstead and back across the fields to Denford.

Q:  What do like doing in your free time?

A: When am not working, you’ll likely find me following rugby – cheering on the Saints, supporting school & club matches or just enjoying the game wherever it is played. If am not on the sidelines, I’m out on my bike, making the most of Northamptonshire’s trails.

Q:  Why do you like being part of the village hall committee?

A: I’m a relatively newbie to the village, so joining the committee was a good opportunity to get to know more people and get more involved in village life.

Q: Where does your dog best like to walk in the village?

A: You’re not going to believe this but our dog’s favourite walk is to the pub – I reckon he could do it blindfold!

Q:  Why do you like being part of the village hall events?

A: Everyone is so appreciative of the events at the Village Hall and that along with having an enjoyable time too, makes putting them on so great.

Q:  How long have you lived in the village?

A: I moved to Denford in 1971, lived here for 12 years, then returned in 1999 and have lived here ever since. So quite a long time!

Q:  What’s your drink of choice at the village pub?

A: The best bitter beer!

Q:  What is your favourite thing about the village?

A: In the 40 years we’ve lived in Denford, as well as our beautiful house and cottage garden, it’s the picturesque setting and good fortune to be able to walk out into open countryside within two minutes in any direction; and of course, the many good friends we’ve met over the years.

Q:  What do like most about the village?

A: Going for long walks down the meadows with the dog and being able to stop off at the pub after for a pint!
